PAST CHAIR: WWEST Associate Chair at Yukon College 2018-19

WWEST established a satellite program at Yukon College, chaired by WWEST Associate Chair Alison Anderson. The WWEST Associate Chair's programs aligned with WWEST's mission to engage industry, the community and students to increase the awareness and participation of women and other under-represented groups in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields of study and careers.

Alison Anderson

Alison Anderson is a professional engineer and is the past Chair of Engineers Yukon 30 by 30, a group working to raise the provincial percentage of newly licensed engineers who are women to 30 per cent by the year 2030. Ms. Anderson has a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo, has worked in product development, research and water treatment system design and has managed the Yukon operations of an international engineering company. She is currently the Technology Innovation Officer at Yukon College, the future Yukon University. In this role, she is responsible for identifying technology innovation potential in the Yukon and supporting Yukoners in moving their technology ideas to the next level. Ms. Anderson lives in Whitehorse with her husband, son and husky.

Women in STEM Report

The Current State of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Yukon analyzes data pertaining to the participation and representation of women and girls in STEM professions and education. This report explores data regarding the attendance of elementary school girls at STEM-related camps and the results of standardized testing for numeracy, reading, and writing at Grade 4 and 7 levels.
